12th August 2004

The Youth Team had their first match against the London Community Cricket Association (LCCA) based in Sutton. The LCCA players had been participating in a series of summer camps and the match took place on the last day of the course. All the players had a great day with the Rascals winning by 15 runs.

Sherbourne School for Boys was the venue for this years' South West versus South East England regional match. Many of the regular Rascals players played for the South East and were joined by Alistair for the his first competitive match. Suffice to say he enjoyed the day made that little bit sweeter by the South East's victory.

16th May 2004

Daniel, Matthew, Keith, Andy and John represented the South of England in a South v North of England match at the Brit Oval organised by the CFPD. The South's Zodiac players faced particularly strong opposition from the North but the match was very friendly with good displays of sportsmanship on both sides. Daniel, who was playing his first match at the Brit Oval, put on a very positive performance and, with his batting partner Matthew, the hall cheered when they raced to get his first run.

The Zenith match was more closely contested and Keith did well to get 2 wickets for 39 off of his 5 overs, as well as 7 not out (for the second time running!!). There was also a ladies match played between the British Belles and the Shropshire Stars, which the British Belles (mainly South players) won. At the end of the day, medals were presented to all the players by Dick and Fred Wildgoose and, in addition, several players received a joint Cricket World / Disability Now award in recognition of their cricketing achievements.

Finally, Matthew was presented with a Sports Endeavour Award by Jan Racliff, Chairman of the Lord's Taverners Foundation Committee.

15th March 2004

After the Lord's game, which was covered in our newsletter, Keith and Andy received a Cricket World / Disability Now Award for their spectacular close to the wicket catches in a wheelchair.

We will produce a newsletter to circulate to all our members. This will keep you informed about what we are doing and our plans to develop the club, in particular the youth team for which we have received funding from the Surrey Community Action's Local Area Network Fund.
The newsletter will also act as a promotional leaflet, which we can send out to interested groups.
